Non-Filing

Failing to file a tax return is taken very seriously by both federal and state authorities.

The best way to prevent penalties of course is to file tax returns on time. However, the IRS generally has not imposed criminal prosecution on individuals who don't file if they voluntarily file when they are notified.

FAILURE TO RESPOND TO THE NON-FILING INCOME TAX NOTICE BY THE DUE DATE MAY RESULT IN THE ISSUE OF A SUBPOENA OR A TAX ASSESSMENT BASED ON INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE.

You may respond by either:

  1. Submitting to A Plus Financial all applicable W-2s, 1099s, Federal Schedules and page 1 of Federal Form 1040 by the due date on the Notice so that your municipal income tax returns may be prepared and filed.  (or)

  2. Completing the Non-Filing Income Tax Notice form stating why you have not filed a return.  If you did not file a return for the tax year(s) because of any of the reasons listed on the Non-Filing Notice, check the reason that applies and return the form to A Plus Financial with any required documentation.

All documentation must be mailed to:  A Plus Financial Consulting Office of Compliance at 7333 Atlantic Ave Ste F, Cudahy, CA 90201. You must submit a paper form.

Apply for an ITIN

If you earn money in the United States but you don't qualify for a Social Security Number, A Plus Financial can help you apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (also known as an ITIN, PIN, Tax ID or Taxpayer ID) and file any and all pending tax returns.

Plus, an ITIN application is FREE when we prepare your U.S. federal income tax return (prior or current year).

Why You Need An ITIN
  • It serves as your identification number for filing your federal taxes.

  • It allows you to get a refund from your income withheld by the IRS, if you qualify.

  • It allows you to file your taxes and claim dependents you support in the U.S., Mexico or Canada.

  • With an ITIN you may be able to open a bank account or apply for a mortgage loan.

  • A complete IRS Form W-7

  • A U.S. federal income tax return

  • Your Passport or 2 of the following documents: (including at least one identification with photo and one identification from your country):

    • National Identification Document (this must be current, and include name, photo, address, date of birth, and expiration date)

    • U.S. driver's license

    • Birth Certificate (required for a dependent unless a passport is being submitted)

    • State I.D.

    • Voter registration from your country

    • Visa

    • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services photo I.D.

    • Medical (for dependents only)

    • School records (for dependents and/or students only)

Disclaimer:

A Plus Financial does not provide immigration services. An ITIN is an identification number issued by the U.S. government for tax reporting only. Having an ITIN does not change your immigration status. You are required to meet government requirements to receive your ITIN. Additional fees and restrictions may apply.

If the ITIN is for a dependent, the documentation provided must prove that the dependent is a U.S. National or a resident in the United States, Mexico or Canada. Dependents must meet all the other tests for qualifying child or qualifying relative.

Supporting Identification Documents must be original or copies certified by the issuing agency. Original supporting documentation for dependents must be included in the application.
